A mother charged with manslaughter over the death of her own daughter will answer the charges against her later this year.
Jenni Wilmott, 54, has been charged with a raft of offences, including two counts of commit manslaughter and four counts of aggravated assault against her teenage daughter Jasmine Wilmott.
Jasmine took her own life in 2018 and police allege Ms Wilmott failed to provide a duty of care to her daughter.
The South Australian mum appeared at Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The court was told that Ms Wilmott did not admit the charges against her and negotiations between her defence team and the prosecution had not yet started.
Ms Wilmott’s lawyer asked for a 10-week adjournment, which the prosecution supported.
Ms Wilmott is on bail and left the court after the hearing.
She will appear in court again on November 22 to answer the charges against her.
Craig Caldicott, for Ms Wilmott, has previously told the court that his client would fight the charges and plead not guilty.
Details on the case in the lead-up to Jasmine’s death are not publicly available at the request of Ms Wilmott’s lawyer.
The names of people Ms Wilmott is prohibited from contacting have also been suppressed.
