Wang Chung’s drummer, Darren Costin (born 1966), is a member of the new wave band Wang. Costin made his first appearance on the group’s first album, Huang Chung, and then on their second album, Points on a Curve, which was released in 2013. When it came to drumming, Costin utilised electronic drums from Simmons. Costin departed the band in 1985, after Wang Chung’s second summer tour with The Cars in the United States, in order to pursue a solo career in the music industry. As the main vocalist and composer of the band Heroes, Costin was instrumental in its formation. In 1987, they released the album Here We Are, which was distributed by RCA Records. After retiring from professional music, Costin continued to be involved in the music industry by engineering, producing, and performing on many albums by artists such as U2, Frank Sinatra, and Björk, among others. In 2009, Costin was tasked with producing and composing material for the band DAVE, which was released in 2009. They released their first studio album, A DAVE in the Life, in 2011. He has also completed the sound design for Lutz Becker’s “The Fururist,” as well as two Eden project performances for the Raconteurs and the Kaiser Chiefs for MTV. He is now working on a new album.
