Brodie Kostecki has dominated the field to win the Top 10 Shootout and claim his maiden pole position for the Bathurst 1000.
The Supercars championship leader had to recover from a slow start to his hot lap when he dipped a tyre onto the grass to put him well behind Broc Feeney, who held the fastest time at that stage.

But Kostecki turned on the afterburners, blitzing the remainder of the lap to cross the line in 2:04.272 — nearly half a second (0.483sec) ahead of his nearest rival.
“F***ing amazing,” engineer George Commins yelled over Kostecki’s team radio as the Erebus garage went berserk.
“He’s unbelievable. That was a beautiful lap.
“We thought we had a good shot, but I didn‘t think he’d do it by that much. It was amazing.”
There were jubilant scenes in the Erebus garage as Kostecki clinched pole position for Sunday’s Bathurst 1000.
The 25-year-old will start ahead of Broc Feeney and Cam Waters, while three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen was sixth fastest in the shootout.
Van Gisbergen claimed a slice of history on Mount Panorama when he became the first driver to record a speed over 300km/h.
Supercars data clocked van Gisbergen at 300.5km/h coming down Conrod Straight during Friday’s qualifying, which was enough to make the Top 10 shootout.
Van Gisbergen won the Bathurst 1000 last year but he will make the fulltime move from Supercars to America after becoming the first driver in 60 years to win on NASCARS debut this year.
Sunday’s Bathurst 1000 is scheduled to begin at 11:15am AEDT.
